NETIA's Radio-Assist Suite Provides Radio Ô With Complete Solution for Internet Radio Broadcasting

Web Radio Station From RFO Relies on Radio-AssistTM's New Stream-in Software and Hardware to Deliver Sounds of French-Speaking Territories via the Web

CLARET, France - July 24, 2008 - NETIA today announced that its Radio-AssistTM digital audio software range is providing comprehensive functionality for Radio Ô, a web radio station from French broadcast network RFO (Réseau France Outre-mer, or "France Network Overseas"...). Radio Ô broadcasts reflect a diversity of artists from French-speaking territories in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans, which relies on Radio-AssistTM to create and deliver programming for Internet broadcast and to provide a dynamic display which includes images and information about the artist and music for the Radio Ô Web site.

"NETIA's Radio-AssistTM provided us with all the tools necessary to produce high-quality Radio Ô web broadcasts quickly and to provide listeners worldwide with the rich and varied musical offerings from across French overseas territories," said Christian AUGEREAU, Technical Director at RFO. "The intuitive, highly automated Stream-in solution within Radio-AssistTM enabled us to implement a streamlined and cost-effective workflow in taking Radio Ô online."

Producers create Radio Ô web radio content using Radio-AssistTM and use the software suite's Air-DDO broadcast module along with NETIA's new Stream-in software to capture and encode the music broadcast and voice of the presenter together for delivery to the broadcast server. The Radio-AssistTM Air-DDO GUI simultaneously displays the radio channel along with tools for cueing, playlist modification, recording, and production. NETIA's Stream-in automatically manages acquisition of multiple sources, simultaneous multiformat conversion, and transfer of the audio stream to the server.

Stream-in is a complete solution designed specifically for live and delayed web radio broadcasting. The system captures AES or IP flows and, if required, digitizes and encodes them prior to export in IP (high- and/or low-resolution) format to the target server. Stream-in features configurable settings that allow operators to specify all of the conditions and characteristics of the broadcast including manual/automatic and live/delayed playout; Web site address; encoding format; and type of compression. A variety of output effects, such as a maximizer or equalizer, can be applied to achieve the desired sound quality.

In order to create the most dynamic display for each artist's work Radio Ô is using NETIA's Air-Push . Air-Push is designed for DAB broadcasts and automatically supplies the broadcaster with the data relating to the item (in this case, the song or other music) on air. For each song broadcast, Air-Push sends its metadata (text, DAB, html pages) to a web or DAB server, or straight onto the network. Air-Push has a highly advanced settings function which allows users to choose the type of transfer, channel, or metadata they wish to use or display.

NETIA will be showcasing the Radio-AssistTM digital audio software range and other advanced broadcast solutions at IBC2008 , stand 8.C62. More information about NETIA and its products is available at www.netia.com.
