RFI : International multiple broadcasting

The programmes of RFI, Radio France Internationale, are relayed 24 hours a day by more than 300 radio stations throughout the world, in French or other languages. The purpose of the RFI "Digital Studio" project is to automate this multiple broadcasting.

Since 1998, NETIA has been part of the consortium (Cap Gemini, IBM, Probel and PGM System) in charge of this enterprise. Management of all broadcasting output is now fully automated. The system pilots several automata controlled by a global playlist. The complexity of the system is due principally to the fact that a large number of orders have to be carried out at the same time. The switch grid automaton in particular manages several hundred inputs/outputs. The music channel of RFI is broadcast directly from the Digital Studio.

This system is a rallying point for all RFI outputs which simplifies broadcast scheduling and means a considerable increase and the RFI broadcasts throughout the world.
