Hypercast Encoding Service

oeil  See also :

Hypercast Encoding Service performs transcoding, FTP and LAN transfers, and notifies other systems of the videos and sounds produced.

Encoding

Hypercast Encoding Service transcodes audio or video files into mltiple formats, either simultaneously or individually. The built-in encoding engines can handle a wide range of video and audio file formats.

  • Identical processing of all video and audio files.

  • Ability to encode all or part of a source video.

  • Video encoding formats: Windows Media, Real, QuickTime, MPEG 1, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, .AVI, etc.

  • Audio tape encoding formats: .WAV, .MP3, AIFF, AAC, etc.

  • New formats added regularly.

  • Open architecture for easily integrating new encoders.

Transfert

Hypercast Encoding Service transfers video or audio files
to the desired target, either over a LAN or via FTP.

  • Transfers files before or after encoding.

  • Can either copy or move files.

  • Recovery management for FTP transfers.,FTP module compatible with several servers.

Notification

Hypercast Encoding Service notifies one or more HTTP servers when the main task and/or a secondary task has been completed.

Secure operation

In case of a service interruption (power outage, maintenance operations, etc.), Hypercast Encoding Rervice resumes pending tasks when the system restarts. Currently executing tasks are started over.

  • Encoding system reliability ensured by data backup and auto-matic recovery.

  • In case of machine failure, XML files are transferred to another machine in order to resume the work in progress.

  • Service restarts automatically if an incident occurs.

  • Task progress is monitored via a Web interface or via XML files of data macros.

Integration

Hypercast Encoding Service integrates seamlessly into all existing systems thanks to its two operating modes :

file mode, where the XML file containing the tasks is copied to a folder,

service mode, where the XML file containing the tasks is sent using HTTP via the RPC protocol.

  • Simple integration in a publication system, where files can be encoded in the required format and copied to the appropriate location.

  • Notification informs the system incorporating Hypercast Encoding Service.
