Video Recorder is the new module of video recording included in the Manreo
Video Recorder module controls the video tape recorder and launches the procedure of acquiring and encoding. This solution allows the TV channels and others media managers to have large stocks of archives on tapes, and to evolve towards secured digital storage without loss.
Video Recorder uses the protocol RS-422 and RS-232 to control externally the video tape recorder and allows users to connect a control system type jog/shuttle to the USB port (example: Shuttle Xpress) so as to facilitate the navigation. The operator can see the video during the media digitalization, and can move the starting and ending cursors to create a sequence or a new video, made automatically from the series of marked segments.
Navigate easily in the tape (Play/Pause/Stop/Back Forward/Fast Forward/Image by image).
Create a MPEG2 clip while manually watching a tape (DV, Beta, Betacam etc.).
Create a clip indicating the entry (Timecode In) and exit plug (Timecode Out).
Create a video file from several segments (several sets of Timecode In, Timecode Out).
Selection and navigation of 'timecode' type possible (if the tape has one).
Automatic: if the equipment (video tape recorder, DVD player, video camera) can be controlled via RS-422 or RS-232 and that there is at least one clip in the list. It is then possible to digitalize all the clips in one unique big file or in separated files.
Manual: if the equipment cannot be controlled or that there is no clip in the list. It is possible at any time to put 'pause'. It allows, during the digitalization, to fix the video tape recorder on another sequence, then to start again the digitalization.
Operating System: Windows 2000, Windows XP.
Players: Quicktime 5 or higher, Direct X8, RealPlayer 8, Windows Media Encoder 7, Real Producer + SDK 8.5.
Computer: P IV 2 Ghz or similar.
RAM: 256 Mo minimum (512 Mo recommended).
Disk space: 200 Mo.
